It is “safety first” before everything else! A matter of utmost concern in the shipping business, safety rests above everything else. The IMDG Code or International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code is considered as the highest-level international guideline to the safe transportation or shipment of dangerous goods or hazardous materials by water on a vessel. The main objective of the IMDG code is to reinforce the safe transport of dangerous goods by sea and protect the marine environment.
IMDG training is required for all persons who transport dangerous goods according to IMDG Code 1.3. The IMDG training rules are a must for shore-based personnel. However, the Main Line vessel operators, NVOCC lines, Common Feeder operators and ISO Tank operators also often require compliance with them as a condition of accepting IMDG category shipments. IMDG training is necessary for those dealing with the shipping of dangerous and hazardous goods. It is a must for them to be able to read and interpret the IMDG Code. These include Freight Forwarders, Customs Clearance Agents and other officers associated with international trade and commerce. Exporters and Importers are also required to have knowledge on IMDG.
